A Dirty Dancing Inspired Wedding Ceremony

If you and your fiancee are dancers, this might be the perfect wedding ceremony script for you. We combined a classic love story, dancing, and a wedding ceremony and came up with this. Hope you enjoy!

The ceremony should be outside…ideally on a beautiful lawn or patio. It should give summery vibes– lots of greenery, hanging white lights, and maybe even a live band playing upbeat tunes.

Introduction

“We’re gathered here today to celebrate the love of [Groom’s Name] and [Bride’s Name]. The couple chose to style their wedding in the theme of the classic film Dirty Dancing because it is a story that means a lot to them. Like Baby and Johnny they both met in a fancy resort and found each other through the world of dance. As the music moved their souls together in perfect unison, it became clear that this first dance would not be the last. Now we are here to celebrate the union of these two beautiful dancers.

Vows

The couple can write their own vows, but here are some ideas inspired by Dirty Dancing:

Groom: “Baby, ever since I first set my eyes on you I knew you were the one I wanted to dance with. After that night I knew I wanted you to be my dance partner for life. I promise to hold you in my arms even when we get old and frail.”

Bride: “ My sweet love. You are the bounce in my step and the beat in my heart. With you, it is always the time of my life. I promise to dance with you even when we are old and to always stay faithful to you.”

Ring Exchange

Officiant: “With these rings, I now pronounce you husband and wife. May they be a reminder to you of the promises you made today. You may now kiss the bride.”

Closing

“Let’s celebrate the start of this new chapter with joy and energy! DJ take it away!

“I’ve Had The Time of My Life” starts playing as the couple gets ready to put on their first dance for the audience.
