Hey Queen! Here’s a drag queen wedding ceremony script that will get everyone, and I mean everyone making it rain! The idea is that the wedding officiant is simultaneously a drag queen performer and leads the ceremony with the same flair and attitude you might see at a drag show. Feel free to make as many changes as you wish and add your own spicy touch.

Processional
(Upbeat, happy music plays. Possibly “Sissy that Walk” from RuPauls Drag Race. Switch things up and have the couple walk in first, either holding hands or accompanied by a good friend or parent. Later the officiant makes thier flamboyant entrance.
Invocation
Officiant: “Welcome, darlings! Today [Partner 1 Name] and [Partner 2 Name] have dared to love boldly and fearlessly – Slay! So, let’s get this party started!”
“Love, my dears, is a kaleidoscope of colors, a symphony of sequins, and a spotlight that today is especially focused on [Partner 1 Name and Partner 2 Name]. Today, we celebrate not just a union, but a declaration of self-expression! We’re here to make it known that love, sweetie, love can get you anywhere you want to be. Hey, it brought us all together today for a beautiful wedding celebration….Now, isn’t THAT a slay?!
Poem
Here’s a poem that feels fitting for the occasion. Although the title may be a little misleading, the message is quite perfect for a wedding. The poem is called “ Birthday” by Christina Rosetti. It reads as follows:
My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water’d shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
Because my love is come to me.
Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.
Example Reading
(This can be read by a close friend or family member)
“Love is not about fitting into a mold, but about creating your own masterpiece and being the queen of your own show. Love is about finding that special someone who not only sees your sparkle and finds a way to make you sparkle even brighter together. We see you two today, and cannot help but notice that the whole room is basking in your beautiful rays. So keep on shining babies. Let those fingers keep snapping and don’t ever lose that swagger in your step, cause you know the world needs it.
The Couple’s Story
(The officiant shares a brief, lighthearted, and heartwarming story about the couple, highlighting their journey to this moment. This can be pre-written and approved by the couple. It’s not absolutely necessary to add the couple’s story to the wedding ceremony, but it can make it feel more authentic)
Example
“From their first glitter-filled encounter at [Location] to their unforgettable [Memory] moment, [Partner 1] and [Partner 2]’s journey has been a whirlwind of fabulousness. Their marriage today is proof that no matter how many wigs, glitter, or makeup it takes, there is somebody out there who’s ready to get weird and wild with you!”
Vows
(The couple exchanges their vows, which can be heartfelt, humorous, or a mix of both. Consider incorporating drag-inspired language or metaphors.)
Example Vows:
Partner 1: “[Partner 2], you are the highlight of my highlight reel, the sparkle in my eye shadow, and the fierce beat to my heart. I promise to love you through every shade of lipstick and every sequin that falls. I vow to be your partner in crime, your confidante, and your biggest fan.”
Partner 2: “[Partner 1], you are my runway, my stage, and the love of my life. I promise to cherish your uniqueness, celebrate your fabulousness, and dance with you through every act of our lives together.”
Ring Exchange
“May these rings, as dazzling as the love you share, symbolize your commitment to each other. May they remind you to always shine brightly and celebrate the love that makes you both truly radiant.”
Pronouncement
“By the power vested in me by love, glitter, and the undeniable force of fabulousness, I now pronounce you partners for life! You may now kiss!”
Recessional
The couple and the wedding party exit, perhaps with a final choreographed flourish.)
Officiant (shouting to the crowd): “Now, let’s go hit the bar, cause you know I need my Margarita NOW! Let the love shine, the music play, and the glitter rain!”
Officiate Weddings as a Drag Queen
If you are already an experienced drag queen but you would like to broaden your influence and brand. Then consider getting ordained online and adding ‘wedding officiation’ to your portfolio. Online ordination is the first step in starting this journey.
To officiate weddings in the US, you have to be at least eighteen years old and legally recognized as an ordained minister by a state-recognized organization. Luckily, getting ordained online makes it really easy to obtain this qualification.
These days it’s super easy to get ordained online, plus websites like American Marriage Ministries and Universal Life Church offer this service for free.
Take your dancing and singing to the next level and start offering your services at weddings, not just as a performer but as the MC!
So that’s the extent of our drag queen wedding ceremony script. Go get ’em Queen!
