So you’ve been asked to give a toast at your sister’s wedding and you’re not sure what to say. Don’t worry this article should help you brainstorm and finally write a speech for your sister’s wedding.

Moments of Connection
There’s probably something special that you and your sister hold in common, or things you enjoy doing together. Do you both enjoy the same music or go dancing together? Maybe you can crack a joke that you’ll always be a better dance partner than her husband/wife. Was there a moment where your sister did something special for you or a moment when she lifted your spirits when you were in a dark place? This is a great opportunity to give her an extra special mention and thank her for being there for you.
Shared Laughs
There’s got to be that moment when you and your sister shared a silly or embarrassing moment together. A wedding is the perfect time to talk about that time you got drunk and did something stupid, or the time you decided to go camping and got hit by a thunderstorm. Any exciting or funny memory is perfect for a wedding toast.
How She Met Her Girlfriend/Boyfriend
There must have been that moment when your sister mentioned to you that they ‘found the one’ or that she was seeing ‘someone very special.’ What was your reaction in that moment? How has their partner made an impact in your life? You can take the opportunity to welcome them into your family and express you gratitude that they are joining the clan.
What She Means to You
Talk a bit about what your sister means to you. Is she your mentor and guide? Can you talk about difficult things with her? It could also be sweet to assure the groom/bride that they have a trusted friend in their partner. Talk about how your sister is not only someone they can share their hardest struggles with, but someone who will grant their deepest longings and desires.
What do you Wish For Your Sister?
Near the end of your toast, take a moment to express what you wish for your sister’s marriage. Maybe it’s success in her career, maybe it’s that you can become an uncle/aunt one day. Wish them blessings, peace and fulfillment. Encourage the couple to keep growing in their relationship, discovering new things or going on adventures together.
Write Your Script and Practice
Once you have a bunch of ideas written down, it’s time to write the draft for your toast. If it helps, write your speech down on flashcards to improve your delivery. Practice your toast in front of family and friends. Focus on staying relaxed, comfortable and confident and make sure you speak slowly and clearly.
Officiate Your Sister’s Wedding!
Maybe it doesn’t stop at just giving a toast. You could officiate your sister’s wedding as well! These days it’s super easy to get ordained online and legally officiate weddings. You can get ordained online for free with a number of online organizations by just filling out a simple form that only takes a couple minutes to complete. We highly suggest getting ordained with American Marriage Ministries. Once ordained, there’s a ton of free information on the AMM website which will help you write the wedding ceremony script and walk you through the legal components like signing the marriage license.
Hopefully you now have some ideas for writing a speech for your sister’s wedding. Good luck out there!
