Rainbow Themed Wedding Ceremony Script

The rainbow has always been a beautiful sign of hope, love and a promise for a better future. These are all qualities that you may want to include in your marriage, or somehow convey in your wedding ceremony. That’s why we have a rainbow themed wedding ceremony script crafted for the purpose of bringing out all the beautiful colors on your big day.

For the processional, the couple can walk down the aisle to Cindy Lauper’s “True Colors.”

An arch decorated with flowers of all the colors of the rainbow is stationed at the front of the ceremony space.

Opening Remarks

Officiant: Welcome everyone on this beautiful day as we gather to celebrate the coming together of [Partner 1] and [Partner 2] in marriage. Today we’re here to experience love and how it comes in all colors. When we look out on our beautiful world and see all the vast blue sky, a small purple flower, or a bright green spring fern, we see how our world is just like a large 3D painting. Just as color is woven into every detail of the physical world, so too is love expressed in all shades.

Throughout history the rainbow has always been a symbol of hope, peace and unity. When we see a rainbow emerge after a storm, we are reminded that after hard times, the most beautiful things can happen.

We can see today’s union as such an event. No doubt these two have already weathered many storms together, and now they can stand before each other to say, “I love you.” Isn’t that a beautiful miracle?

Remarks on the Colors of the Rainbow

Officiant: I would like to talk about all the different colors of the rainbow and how each one represents a specific role, or function in relationships and life in general.

Let’s start with the color red. This vibrant red represents the passionate love that ignited their journey together. It symbolizes the energy and excitement that continues to fuel their connection.

Next, orange signifies the warmth and joy they bring into each other’s lives. It’s the laughter shared, the comforting embrace, and the bright moments that illuminate their path.

Then we have the color yellow. Yellow represents the hope they hold for their future together. It’s the belief in each other, the shared dreams, and an ever growing faith in their love. Yellow is also a beautiful color to associate with love because it represents the warmth, joy and peace we feel in the presence of someone we trust and understand.

Next we have green which symbolizes the growth and harmony they cultivate in their relationship. Just as a plant or a forest works together as a one big, breathing form of life, so too does a couple grow together as a single life form.

Eventually we have the color blue. As deep as the vast waters of the ocean, so is love’s depth. Blue may also serve as a sanctuary of comfort, a place of stillness and reassurance that everything will be okay. When we see the color blue we feel calm and cared for.

Finally we have the color violet. This brilliant shade of purple, represents the spiritual connection to our lover and the loyalty and respect we show to them.

Declaration of Intent

Officiant: These colors, now blended, represent the beautiful unity you create together.

Officiant to Couple: [Partner 1 Name] and [Partner 2 Name], do you come here of your own free will to join together in the bond of marriage.

Partners: “Yes.”

Officiant: Please share your vows.

Example Rainbow Themed Vows

I promise to love you with the power of a million rainbows. Every day I will share with you the beauty of color, and the light of the world. Just as I will love you when the sunset sky is filled with color, so too will I be by your side when there is only black and grey. I know that at the end of our beautiful rainbows, there is a pot of gold waiting for the both of us. I want to join you every day in the search for this beautiful prize, and I know that the journey will feel like sailing over a beautiful rainbow with raindrops and sunbeams to sparkle the path.

Handfasting Ceremony with Rainbow Cord

Officiant: The handfasting ceremony represents the bond that you promise to keep with the seal of marriage. This cord has all the colors of the rainbow woven into it. Each color represents the qualities of love which I spoke of before.

Officiant ties cord around couple’s wrist.

As I wrap this cord around your arms, I am strengthening the bond of love that you share. Just as this cord is strong, sturdy and steadfast, so too should your love for each other remain.

Ring Exchange

Officiant: May these rings, symbols of your unending love, remind you always of the promises you have made today.

By the power vested in me, and by all the colors of the rainbow, I now pronounce you married! You may now seal your vows with a kiss.

It is my great honor to present to you [Partner 1 Name] and [Partner 2 Name], now united in marriage!

Recessional
