A Rustic Feel

There’s nothing like the smell of an old barn. The faint musty smell of hay, combined with the homely smell of old wood creates the perfect atmosphere for a vow exchange and a cheerful celebration. A lot of barns will hang old-fashioned chandeliers from the ceiling, or have candles burning to give the venue an extra special vibe.

Acoustics

If you’re planning on having some music at the wedding, barns can provide some great acoustics. Whether you’re planning on hiring a DJ, or even better a live band, there’s nothing like a lofty ceiling for creating a perfect space for music. Imagine having a proper barn dance? Your friends can bring their fiddles and guitars for the after party!

Barn Decor

Old barns will most likely have some super cool props. An old tractor might make for a cute wedding photo. Lights strung out along the big wooden beams is a classic barn wedding look and can create a super relaxing and welcoming vibe for your wedding guests. Hay bales make the perfect props for wedding photos and could even serve as benches for your guests to sit on! A barn is also a great venue for having lots of natural decorations such as flowers or tasteful fruit and vegetable arrangements.

The Perfect Environment

There’s a good chance that if you decide to have a barn wedding, that you won’t only have plenty of outdoor space for your wedding guests to mix and mingle, you’ll be far away from the bustle and noise of any town or city. Having a barn wedding generally comes with a more relaxed and refreshing environment, close to nature and hidden away from any distractions. Nestled among rolling hills or simply tucked into a quiet corner of the village, barns are perfect locations for wedding parties.

Nature is also often the best backdrop for good photos. This shouldn’t be a problem if you choose a barn wedding venue out in the countryside.
