There’s plenty of reasons to have a Beatles theme ceremony. Besides this British boy band being one of the most popular of all times, it’s undeniable that their lyrics have brought people together. There’s no doubt that hundreds of couples have fallen in love with the “Abbey Road” record spinning in the background. There’s no reason not to bring these vibes of love and peace right into your wedding ceremony.
Preparing the Scene
An ideal setting for a Beatles wedding ceremony might be a garden or some sort of outdoor venue with a vintage or retro vibe. Colorful flowers, electric guitars – anything you think might work with a 60’s rock n’ roll vibe should be included in the decorations. Setting up a stage and having a live band or DJ ready to play Beatles classics is an absolute must if you want the wedding to be a real whiz-banger.
The Beatles Wedding Ceremony
Officiant:“Welcome, everyone, to the wedding of [Partner A] and [Partner B].
“Now, before we get started, I’d like to ask everyone to take a moment. Close your eyes and imagine you are at a Beatles concert. Feel the tension in the air before the concert, as you nervously wait for Paul McCartney and the band to make their entrance. Imagine the hushed expectation of the crowd as they hold their breaths waiting for their these musical gods to take them to that special place of pure ecstasy. Can you feel the energy?
If we tap into that energy we can bring it into this ceremony space here and now. That same excitement, that same joy, that same love is in the air today. And let me tell you, it is just as, if not more powerful than a whole stadium packed with obsessed Beatles fans. It is my honor to lead us in celebrating [Partner A] and [Partner B’s] love for each other”
Vows
The couple can write their own vows, but here are some ideas inspired by Beatles lyrics:
Partner A: “Paul McCartney put it best when he wrote the lyrics to “In My Life.” That’s how I feel about my love for you. At the end the song goes “Though I know I’ll never lose affection for people and things that went before, I know I’ll often stop and think about them in my life. I love you more.”
Partner B: “Oh darling, please believe me. I’ll never do you no harm. Believe me when I tell you I’ll never do you no harm.” This is how I feel about my love for you. I promise to always stay by your side. “I will be there and everywhere. Here, there and everywhere.”
Ring Exchange
Officiant: “Now we will have the couple exchange rings as a symbol of their eternal love and promise to always be there for each other”
The officiant presents the rings to the couple.
Partner A: “I give you this ring as a promise of my love, my loyalty, and my commitment to you. I pledge to always be by your side, through every twist, turn and key change of our lives together.”
The groom places the ring on the bride’s finger.
Partner B: “I give you this ring as a symbol of my love, my devotion, and my promise to always be there for you. I pledge to cherish you, to support you, and to love you unconditionally.”
Pronouncement
Officiant:“And now, with these rings, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
“Let’s celebrate with a little help from our friends. May your future be filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of rock and roll.”
