Has your brother asked you to give a toast at his wedding? Maybe you’re not sure what to say, or you just want a few ideas to help you brainstorm. Whatever the reason, this article should be a quick guide in helping you write a wedding toast for your brother.

Bonding Moments
There’s probably something special that you and you two hold in common, or things you enjoy doing together. Are you both avid sports players or video gamers? Maybe you can make a joke about how you’ve gotten better than him since he’s been ‘distracted’ by his girlfriend/boyfriend. Was there a moment where your brother did something special for you or a moment when he pulled you out of the dumps? This is a great opportunity to give him an extra special mention and thank him for being there for you.
Funny Times
There’s got to be that moment when you and your brother had a silly or embarrassing moment together. A wedding is the perfect time to recall that time you played a prank on his fiancee or the time you got caught sneaking into the concert. Any exciting or funny memory is perfect for a wedding toast.
How He Met His Girlfriend/Boyfriend
There must have been that moment when your brother mentioned to you that he ‘found the one’ or that he was going out with ‘someone very special.’ What was your reaction? Maybe there was a beautiful moment when you met his partner for the first time. Was it awkward? Were you also drawn by his or her aura? Talk about that first meeting and what it meant to you.
What He Means to You
Give a quick mention to what your brother means to you. Is he your mentor and guide? Can you talk about difficult things with him? It could also be sweet to assure the bride/groom that they have a trusted friend in their partner. Talk about how your brother is not only someone they can share their hardest struggles with, but someone who will help them achieve their deepest longings and desires.
What do you Wish for your Brother?
Near the end of your toast, talk about your wishes for your brother. Maybe it’s success in his marriage, maybe it’s that you can become an uncle/aunt one day. Wish them blessings and fulfillment. Wish them a long life of growth and adventure.
Write Your Script and Practice
Once you have a bunch of ideas written down, it’s time to write the draft for your toast. If it helps, write your speech down on flashcards to improve your delivery. Practice your toast in front of family and friends. Focus on staying relaxed, comfortable and confident and make sure you speak slowly and clearly.
Officiate Your Brother’s Wedding!
Maybe it doesn’t stop at just giving a toast. You could officiate your brother’s wedding as well! These days it’s super easy to get ordained online and legally officiate weddings. You can get ordained online for free with a number of online organizations by just filling out a simple form that only takes a couple minutes to complete. We highly suggest getting ordained with American Marriage Ministries. Once ordained, there’s a ton of free information on the AMM website which will help you write the wedding ceremony script and walk you through the legal components like signing the marriage license.
Hopefully you have some ideas to work with for how to write a wedding toast for your brother. Good luck out there!
